Chris Nichols is the Director of Capital Markets at SouthState Bank, a regional financial institution serving over one million customers across the Southeastern United States. He focuses on innovative strategies, including the integration of artificial intelligence, to drive growth and operational efficiency within the financial industry. His leadership and forward-thinking approach continue to influence advancements in banking technology and capital market solutions.
With more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry, Chris is recognized for his expertise in capital markets, innovation, and financial technology. He is also the author of the "Banker to Banker" blog, where he shares insights on banking strategies and industry trends.
Prior to joining SouthState Bank, Chris served as President and CEO of PCBB Capital Markets and held leadership positions at Pacific Coast Bankers' Bank, FinancialOxygen, Bank of America Corporation, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He co-authored "The Successful Lender’s Field Guide" and is a frequent speaker on topics related to banking and financial services. Chris holds a degree in economics from the University of California.
