The theme of 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Month is “Protecting Yourself and Your Business Online,” which emphasizes the need for individuals and companies to take proactive steps to secure their online presence.

Asnardo Garro is a partner in AVILA’s Corporate and Financial Services practice. Sergio Piñon


Senior Vice President and Director of Security

Sergio Piñon is currently the senior vice president and director of security for Ocean Bank.   He is responsible for all of the physical security and investigations of all branches, and corporate headquarters.  In 2009 he was appointed by the board of directors as the bank’s privacy and information security officer in addition to the corporate security role.

Prior to joining Ocean Bank, he spent 20 years at MasterCard Worldwide, and retired as Group Executive in charge of all security & risk management global operations.   While working in this capacity Sergio was involved in the writing and passing of credit card fraud related legislation for the State of Florida.  In 1989, he received a special award from the Florida Attorney General for his outstanding contribution to the citizens of Florida.  He is recognized as one of the foremost experts in the field of credit card fraud, identity theft, cyber-crimes, and terrorism by many members of federal and state law enforcement agencies throughout the world.  He is a former Intelligence Officer and Anti-terrorism expert, and a certified bomb technician.

Mr. Piñón graduated from Nova Southeastern University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Professional Management.  He is a Certified Ethical Hacker, Information Security Assessment (IAM) by the National Security Agency (NSA), Risk and Information Security Systems and Control (CRISC) AND Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI).  He is a member of the FBI’s InfraGard’s South Florida Alliance Board of Directors, currently serving as Financial Services Sector Chief, and a member of the US Secret Service Economic Crimes Task Force. In 2018, he attended and completed the prestigious FBI CISO Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  In 2019, he was once again nominated to attend the FBI’s InfraGard Alliance Leadership Academy also in Quantico, Virginia.  He served in the US Army, two tours in Special Operations in the Republic of Vietnam, a decorated war hero awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery, amongst many other military awards such 13 Helicopter flight combat medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Airborne flight wings, 2 presidential citations for safety and 2 presidential citations for meritorious achievement.



Jesus Peña

Jesus Peña is the Executive Vice President and Customer Experience Officer at UDT, a leading technology enabler that helps clients in major industries evaluate, architect, secure and manage technology on premise, in mobile and in the cloud. Jesus joined UDT in 2011, after more than 20 years in the IT industry, working for such companies as Cisco and Dimension Data. He is responsible for driving the company’s growth strategy for services and solutions and ensuring high customer satisfaction. 

He began his tenure at the company as Florida Director of Sales, quickly rising through the ranks due to his deep understanding of leading with services. He has also led the way to focus our vendor relationships and most recently the cloud, security 1st transition. He believed that in this world that we live in, everything has to have a purpose and selling products and services without really solving a business problem or what is in it for the customer will not go very far. Jesus’s entrepreneurial spirit, leadership skills and values make him the ultimate team player and a key contributor to company’s senior leadership team, from strategy to field operations. In addition, Jesus plays a key role in coaching and mentoring the firm’s sales team. 

He and his beloved wife, Milena, have four children ranging in age from 13 to 34, and enjoy boating together. Jesus is also an avid fisherman and enjoys working out.

Daniel Gaitan

Special Agent (SA) Daniel Gaitan is the Private Sector Coordinator (PSC) for the Miami Division.  In his role as PSC, SA Gaitan strives to protect our nation’s economy and national security by strengthening the FBI’s relationships with the U.S. private sector. SA Gaitan possesses 18 years of extensive FBI investigative experience in Criminal matters, National Security, and International relations.  From 2005 through 2008, SA Gaitan was assigned to the Denver Division, Lander, Wyoming field office, where he worked Indian Country Violations to include violent crimes, homicides, crimes against children, and gaming. In 2008, SA Gaitan transferred to Miami Division where he worked violent gangs, narcotics trafficking, and international money laundering. As a member of Miami’s SWAT Team, SA Gaitan gained extensive tactical experience in firearms, close quarter battle, breaching, dignitary protection and security.  In 2015, SA Gaitan served as FBI Headquarters Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) assigned to the Directorate of Intelligence, Human Intelligence Operations Section. SA Gaitan managed Confidential Human Source (CHS) recruitment, vetting, and development. From 2017 to 2020, SA Gaitan served as Assistant Legal Attaché located in Mexico City, Mexico. SA Gaitan developed and maintained numerous liaison contacts representing international law enforcement counterparts, international business partners, as well as other government agencies.  SA Gaitan oversaw multiple programs to include Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, White-Collar Crimes, Narcotics trafficking, Kidnapping for Ransom and Fugitive Extraditions. 


Prior to the FBI, SA Gaitan worked in the Banking and Finance industry. SA Gaitan received his Master’s Degree in Finance from St. Mary’s University and Bachelors of Business Management from Texas State University.


Jason Manar

Chief Information Security Officer

Jason Manar brings extensive experience with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to Kaseya as the chief information security officer (CISO) where he plays a pivotal role in further solidifying the company’s security stance. He oversees information security and compliance, leading the cybersecurity division to identify the industry’s latest threats and vulnerabilities and intercept them. As CISO, Jason also ensures compliance with security requirements associated with government regulations, which vary by global region.

Prior to joining Kaseya, Jason was named assistant special agent in charge for the FBI where he supervised all cyber, counterintelligence, intelligence and the language service programs for the San Diego office. He began his career as a special agent with the FBI in 2006, serving as the Safe Streets Gang and Violent Crime Task Force coordinator for the FBI’s Springfield Division and investigated drug trafficking organizations, violent crime, cybercrime and transnational organized crime. Jason was later transferred to Detroit where he worked public corruption, civil rights and health care fraud.  

He was eventually promoted to supervisory special agent (SSA) in the Cyber Division where he worked in the Major Cyber Crimes Unit combating cybercriminal threats targeting U.S. entities. During that time, Jason built relationships with key partners from the private sector and was instrumental in the creation of Microsoft’s Cybercrime Center.

Most recently, prior to his work with the San Diego office, Jason was assigned as the Miami cybercrime SSA, where he managed all FBI criminal cyber operations within the Southern District of Florida, the Caribbean and Central and South America. He became the cyber program coordinator (PCOR) and also oversaw complex cyber intrusion investigations.

Jason graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity. Prior to joining the FBI, he served six years with the Kentucky State Police as a state trooper and detective.
